John Heutmaker has been working in both the public and private sectors in management positions since 1989. John graduated from the College of St. Thomas with a BA in Accounting. He began his public accounting career with Boulay, Heutmaker, Zibell and Co. (BHZ) in the audit department. John worked on audit and review engagements with a number of manufacturing and service clients at BHZ including, among others, Midwest Machinery, Viking Council Boy Scouts of America, McGlynn Bakeries and Wright Products.

After leaving BHZ, John had a number of management positions in the private sector. He worked for Facility Options Group; a re-manufacturer of office workstations as their Controller. PrimeNet Data Systems; a provider of fulfillment and direct mail services as their Accounting Supervisor. Cellex Biosciences; a publicly-traded manufacturer of cell culturing instrumentation and provider of outsourced culturing services as their Controller.

Over the last 10 years, John has been providing outsourced CFO/Controller services to a variety of companies throughout the Twin Cities metro area. John cultivated his skills at Frank Consulting, PLLP before starting Heutmaker Business Advisors in July 2003.

Over these 20 years of working in the accounting/finance industry, John’s work has provided him with a great skill set that few will match. With public and private background, John has been on “both sides of the table” so he knows how to approach all aspects of running a business and brings a wide range of experiences to be able to problem solve and be a client advocate. Bo Nickoloff

As the Director of Business Development, Bo Nickoloff is responsible for seeking clients, managing the profitability of the partnership and advising clients with strategic initiatives for Heutmaker Business Advisors, LLC (HBA) small to mid-sized clients.  Bo has been providing strategic advisory and business management leadership for more than 20 years.

In addition to HBA, Bo also founded Mesaba Capital Partners (MCP) in 2006, which provides boutique strategic advisory and business management as well as real estate development and financing.  Bo is also a Managing Partner at Value Wise Corporation (VWC) a company that provides consulting services in the healthcare, finance and business operations areas.

From 1993-2006, Bo was Founder and President  & CEO of Larex, Inc. a specialty provider of natural compounds for human nutrition, animal health, personal care and bio-tech applications.  Bo was responsible for the design, development and implement of the business venture which included securing of $40M in equity, building a state of the art manufacturing facility, overseeing numerous human and animal clinical trials and receiving FDA approval for the compounds.  He was instrumental in opening markets throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and Asian countries.   He gained an extensive knowledge of both human and animal nutrition markets globally and established strong relationships with leading nutritional health companies and groups throughout the world.  He sat on the several panels and spoke at numerous health conferences during his tenure as CEO of Larex.  Larex’s business grew in conjunction with the rapidly growing nutritional health which allowed Bo to gain valuable insight into the market and the leading companies.  He worked directly with Novartis, Pepsi, General Mills, P&G, Hills Science Diet, Cargill, Ralco, Estee Lauder, Boots, DKSH, Lonza, IAMS, Hartz, Roche, Taiyo Health, Whole Foods, Aveda, Maple Leaf Foods, Ocean Nutrition, GNC, Celestial Seasonings, Natrol, and many others in the rapidly growing health and nutrition market.

Mr. Nickoloff has served on numerous Boards and has provided advisory Board oversight to others as well.  Mr. Nickoloff received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Eric Zucker

Eric Zucker began his career in the landscaping industry with nurseries and landscape design companies.  Eric began at the entry level of the landscaping business and continued to work up through the ranks to have the position of Controller at Innovative Landscape Supply (Innovative).  Prior to working at Innovative Landscape Supply, Eric opened up his own landscape design company, which still operates on a part-time basis today.

While at Innovative Eric was in-charge of all the daily operational tasks of the accounting and finance department.  These duties included managing payables and receivables, payroll processing, purchasing and price negotiations, implementation of a new software system, policy and procedure development, month-end closes and financial statement analysis.

Eric has been a consultant with Heutmaker Business Advisors since the fall of 2004.  He has worked on clients in the service and manufacturing industries assisting them with month-close and financial statement analysis, organization of their accounting departments, special projects, software implementations and preparation for annual reviews.  Eric is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Annie Lusk

Annie Lusk joined Heutmaker Business Advisors in June of 2015. Annie graduated from the College of St. Thomas in 1986 with a BA in Accounting. She has worked in the private sector since then, spending many years as an independent accounting contractor for small to mid-sized business. Annie was Controller for Hurley Partners, LLP for the past eight years, with the majority of her emphasis in the service, property management and construction industries.

Pat Dee

Pat Dee joins the company with over 20 years experience in outsourced accounting, retail and construction industry. Pat’s education at the University of St. Thomas and University of Minnesota has enabled him to set a solid career path in the accounting field. In the most recent 5 years, Pat maintained and managed the accounting functions of VSI Construction where he worked closely with internal and external business partners. Pat’s diverse industry background will provide our clients with a positive experience.

Pat also provides outsource accounting services (Dee’s consulting) for a variety of small business. Where he manages and maintains company’s accounting functions including financial statements, general ledger, bank reconciliation, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash flow reports. He’s also ADP payroll trained.

Prior to VSI Construction, Pat owned and operated Dee’s incorporated where he managed the retail operations and financial scope of the company. His contribution to the company provided Dee’s incorporated with incremental growth and financial success. While managing the daily operations of the company, Pat was able to implement and develop advertising campaigns along with other promotional activities.
He has gained a strong proficiency in many accounting systems such as Excel, QuickBooks, Sage Masterbuilders and Mas 90. Pat joins the company as a creative, knowledgeable team player that will constantly seek to provide our clients with exceptional service.
