Heutmaker Business Advisors Expands to Bring New Business Services To Help Growing North Dakota Businesses

HBA partners with Williston financial and business development veteran

Keith Olson to help fill the gap in the ND market by offering a better way to help small to

mid-size companies who need a variety of financial consulting services

MAY 20, 2014 (WILLISTON, ND.) – Heutmaker Business Advisors (HBA) announced today it is expanding to help

serve businesses in Williston, North Dakota and other communities in the state that are continuing to see growth

as a result of the energy industry. HBA created an alliance with Crosby resident and North Dakota natives Keith

Olson and his wife Michelle, to work with companies in what is now the country’s fastest growing economy. HBA’s

unique set of business-focused professional services will help fill the gap between full-service accounting firms,

outsource options, and small accounting groups.

“North Dakota is an exciting place for business as the economy here continues to expand in scale and scope,” said

Keith Olson, who is leading the HBA expansion. “The challenge for a growing number of these companies is

making sure they can find the right kind of help for everything from payroll, HR issues, to making sure their books

are being managed. HBA is bringing all of these services at what is an important time for North Dakota’s economy.”

North Dakota continues to experience amazing economic growth. There are an estimated 40,856 oil industry jobs

in North Dakota, plus an additional 18,000 jobs supporting the industry. In 2013 the state had the highest growth in

state personal income at 7.6% in 2013, almost three times the national average of 2.6%. The Census Bureau

reported that three of the five fastest growing micro areas (cities with populations of 10,000 to 50,000) in the

country between July 2012 and July 2013 were in North Dakota: Williston, ND was No. 1 at 10.7% growth in

population, followed by No. 2 Dickinson, ND at 5% and No. 5 Minot at 3.7%.

The growth has created challenges for a number of companies to not only find employees for their own operations,

but to make sure they have access to other services in the market. “Many area companies have a hard time finding

the right fit when it comes to basic bookkeeping or other financial services,” said Olson. “There are companies that

have needs that don’t fit into the big accounting firm model or others that were too big to be helped by a small shop

that could not provide them enough support. HBA will be able to offer clients more services than some smaller

firms often can – services that are delivered by a more experienced team of consultants. We want HBA to be a

tremendous asset to this growing community.”

“Being a small to mid-sized business doesn’t mean the big operational needs aren’t there,” said John

Heutmaker, founder of HBA, “it means you need the expertise of an accounting partner or group of trusted

senior advisors who can accommodate any size company, any size payroll or budget and become an

integrated part of your business and its success.”

Olson will be responsible for working clients to identify specific needs and getting the bookkeeping services

up-to-date and a system established that uses the full scope of what HBA provides. “We are very excited

about being able to do more in this region,” said Bo Nickoloff, a partner and HBA’s Director of Business

Development. “We know the area needs access to more than traditionally limited financial and accounting

services. The addition of Keith to the team in our Williston office will make sure we have a team strong and

deep enough to support the needs of our clients today and well into the future.”
